Day
1: SHENANDOAH VALLEY / VIRGINIA: Our
Nation’s Capital, Washington D.C., is packed
with famous sights and treasures that
inspire millions from our nation and around
the world to visit each year. Today we
travel through Tennessee and into the
beautiful hills of the Shenandoah Valley
area of Virginia for our overnight stay. |

Day
2: MONTICELLO / MICHIE TAVERN LUNCH &
TOUR / ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY /
WASHINGTON, DC: By midmorning
we stop for a tour of Monticello, a living
showcase to the genius of Thomas Jefferson,
third president of the United States and
author of the Declaration of Independence.
The modern inventions built into his home in
1810 are amazing. After a Colonial-style
lunch and tour of Michie Tavern we continue
to the D.C. area. Our tour of Arlington
National Cemetery allows us to visit the
graves of John and Robert Kennedy, and
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, witness the
Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier, and other memorable sites.
Our accommodations are in the Washington, DC
area for four nights. (L)

Day
3: WASHINGTON, DC / GUIDED CITY TOUR /
NATIONAL MONUMENTS: A local guide
will spend the day with our group as we tour
the City and visit as many attractions as
time permits. See or visit memorials for
Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and the
veterans of World War II, Korea, and
Vietnam. Marvel at the majestic National
Cathedral; visit the National City Christian
Church and take photos of the White House.
We’ll drive along Embassy Row. Enjoy a full
day of our nation’s government and history.

Day
4: WASHINGTON, DC / SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE /
DINNER @ PHILLIPS SEAFOOD: A full day
will be devoted to visiting the Smithsonian
Institute, the world's largest museum
complex and research organization composed
of 19 museums and 9 research centers.
Whatever your interest, there is something
for everyone – Museum of Natural History,
Museum of American History, Design Museum,
and much more! It would take many days to
visit them all! Enjoy a bounty of fresh
seafood this evening at Phillips Seafood.

Day
5: WASHINGTON, DC / CAPITOL BUILDING / MOUNT
VERNON / DINNER: Relive our nation’s
governmental history on our tour of the U.S.
Capitol Building. After a tour of Mount
Vernon, the home of George and Martha
Washington, we enjoy another great dinner in
the area. (D)

Day
6: FAREWELL DINNER / ABINGDON, VA: We
bid farewell to our nation’s capital and
enjoy another day of beautiful scenery along
the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah
Valley of Virginia as we travel south to
Abingdon. This evening will be a period of
dining and reminiscing at our farewell
dinner. (D) |

Day 7: HOME: We
have seen so much of our nation’s capital
and famous sites. This is one trip you will
never forget! |
